Scorncast | Haywire

COVERT OOPS | What happens when an Oscar-winning filmmaker with a penchant for conceptual peculiarity builds a movie around an MMA superstar? You get the nutty action-thriller HAYWIRE, in which director Steven Soderbergh’s experimental coolness and professional brawler Gina Carano’s bizarre acting debut combine to create a film only occasionally as frenetic as its title suggests. On this tangent-heavy episode of Scorncast, Jasper and very special guest Karim hear suspicious voices, praise fight scenes done right, herald the almighty abilities of Antonio Banderas’ majestic facial hair, devise religious gimmicks for the cast of American Gladiators, and even spend a few minutes canvassing the career of Jennifer Love Hewitt. (It totally makes sense within the context of the discussion, okay?) Click the Scorncast banner below to listen!

Rating: R. Running time: 93 minutes.
